How Long Does it Take to Complete ACCA?

Introduction about ACCA.

The ACCA qualification stands out as a unique and globally recognized certification, providing a flexible pathway for individuals wanted to become qualified globally recognised accountants.  The journey period of  ACCA certification varies based on several factors, including when a student start their ACCA studies and whether they  take exemptions or not.  In this blog, we will discuss  the structure of the ACCA qualification, the advantages and disadvantages of exemptions, and the different timelines for completing ACCA based on various starting points.

The best  feature of ACCA is that it doesn’t have a grouping system.  This means a student can take one exam at a time, and if they attempt more than one exam simultaneously, in case if they fail in any eam, they are only required to reappear  the specific exam they didn’t pass.

This system provides the advantage of allowing students to keep their own speed and take exams according to their convenience.  It gives them the option to schedule exams based on their chosen timeline.  Also if a student faces difficulty or fails in a particular subject, they only need to retake the exam for that specific subject rather than reappearing the entire level.

Such a system allows students to have a better view of  their strengths and weaknesses and provides them with the freedom to adjust their study plans.  ACCA’s approach gives a chance to student to complete the ACCA journey as per their convenience.

  • Individuals with relevant prior qualifications can focus on areas that require further development, optimizing their study efforts.

  • Exemptions may result in knowledge gaps, as students might miss foundational concepts covered in exempted subjects.
  • Some employers do not look for ACCAs with exemptions that means taking exemptions in ACCA reduces your employability  also ACCA’s who take exemptions are not eligible for becoming Auditor in many countries.
